This event celebrates the new year with various shows, arts, and fireworks. First Night cellebrations start on Purchase and William Streets with entertainment held at multiple sites, including:
- Bourne Warehouse
- Downtown Visitor Center/WHALE and National Park Headquarters
- Gallery X
- New Bedford Hotel
- New Bedford Library
- New Bedford Senior Center
- Northeast Maritime Institute (former YWCA)
- Pilgrim United Church
- Rotch-Jones-Duff House (chamber music)
- Times Square Atrium
- The former Channel 6 building on County and Spring Streets
- Whaling Museum
- Unitarian Church/Tryworks
- Zeiterion Theater
In addition to the venues, street entertainers will be performing throughout the night on Purchase St. A midnight fireworks show on the waterfront rings in the New Year.
First Night revelers can attend any venue with the purchase of a single button. Buttons and program schedules are available at a variety of area Banks, restaurants, shops, and the New Bedford Visitor Centers.
Parking is free throughout Downtown New Bedford
