This French Renaissance architecture church was dedicated on Thanksgiving day in 1912 and had a construction cost of $342,000. The church is built from Springfield red stone and is 241 feet long. The 250 foot steeple is the tallest in New England.
The interior contains intricate statues and 5500 lights in the ceiling. Behind the main altar is a 75 foot Grand Vision of St. Anthony statuary group. The impressive scene depicts St. Anthony kneeling before the Child Jesus and an array of angels. The statuary was carved by Joseph Castagnoli, a master sculptor from Italy.
Among the many notable interior features are the 8 foot by 10 foot stations of the cross, which are among the largest in the world.
